AZ integrated curriculum aims to prepare every child is having a smooth and successful transition into all types of primary school. Our indoor-outdoor programme integrates a series of carefully planned hands-on learning experiences that are guided by Malaysia, Western and Eastern educational practices which supports children’s learning in a fun and exciting way.
Children are hard-wired to learn through play. Numerous studies show that children who learn through inquiry and play, go on to succeed academically. Involvement in play stimulates a child’s drive for exploration and discovery. At AZ, play-based learning utilises the environment as a third teacher, in conjunction with the children and classroom facilitator (teacher). Every activity and material placed in the classroom and school have a purpose, adds to the learning, and helps scaffold information across the learning domains.
The Montessori Method is a worldwide recognised education approach for more than 100 years and is exceptionally successful. The method emphasises children’s innate ability to direct their development when given the opportunity and tools, the multi-age grouping environment and dedication to individual growth. The true value lies in the self-discipline, self-mastery and love of learning the children achieve.
At AZ, the Montessori curriculum is divided into five working areas:
STEAM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts and Mathematics. Rather than teaching these curriculum areas in isolation, STEAM is about combining these subject areas together, so that elements of each subject are applied to others. STEAM is all about hands-on, fun learning. STEAM activities that involve experimentation, discovery, building or collecting things are play-based learning ideas that early years children love. When children love learning, they will have the most success at school.
As children are engaged with STEAM activities, they develop a range of skills:
Children are curious, and teaching them about nutrition can explain why we serve healthy meals at school and encourage them to try new and healthy foods.
All meals are specially designed to provide children with essential nutrients for healthy growth.
